Mayor Hirling Reads to Flowery Branch Second grade Students

On March 17, 2010 Mayor Diane Hirling had the pleasure of reading to approximately 100 Flowery Branch Elementary second grade students.

Mayor Hirling received a letter from one of the students requesting her attend the school’s week of reading during the week of Dr. Seuss’s Birthday. Unfortunately, the events of the week were canceled due to the weather. Mayor Hirling was excited to find out the school had rescheduled the event for St. Patrick’s Day. The students had the opportunity to ask the Mayor questions and when one of the students asked “What is your favorite part of being Mayor?” Mayor Hirling replied “Well, being here reading to you is the best part of my job!”
