Coats for Kids
Community Spirit abounds in Flowery Branch.
One of the many projects of the Flowery Branch Better Hometown Program is the “Coats for Kids” project. The purpose is to provide children in the Flowery Branch area who are in need, with new coats or other warm items for the winter season. Jean Rowe Luciani, Chairman of the “Coats for Kids” Project sees that Counselors of schools are contacted each year and are asked to submit any sizes, etc. of children who need coats, and whose parents would allow their children to receive one. New coats are purchased and are delivered to the school where they are given to the children by their teacher or counselor. We depend on donations from the Community and Jean Rowe Luciani, through her husband, Gene, came in contact with Jason Berry, Pastor of 12 Stone Church at 4256 Martin Road, here in Flowery Branch. He mentioned that his church would like to become involved in the Community and Jean Rowe told him about Coats for Kids. He offered to help expand the program and his congregation at 12 Stone Church Flowery Branch donated $1,835.00 to be used for this purpose. We want to thank Jason Berry and the 12 Stone Church congregation for this generous gift, as well as Jean Rowe for her dedication to this program. Their Community Spirit abounds and is certainly warming up our children so they can focus on learning, and not on how cold they are. That’s what the Better Hometown Program is all about and proves once again that Volunteerism is our Greatest Asset. |
