Officer David Jackels Becomes Local Hero
Published: 04-15-2005
Imagine this: it's a dreary Sunday, and the rain is coming down in buckets. No one wants to get out of their cars and get drenched! But a Flowery Branch police officer, Officer David Jackels, while responding to a suspicious vehicle call, happened to see something slightly amiss at a home. What he saw would so minor that most of us would have driven right by. It didn't even have anything to do with his call; however, Officer Jackels got out of his car and began looking around.
What he found was a closed up garage with a vehicle inside that was running. He found a young man slumped over the steering wheel only minutes from death. Officer Jackels dragged the man to safety, called for emergency medical services, and stayed with the man to ensure that he would be okay. In the car, the officer found the young man's suicide note. If not for Officer Jackels, the young man would now be gone. For his heroic actions, Officer Jackels was presented with the Employee of the Month award and, far more importantly, the Lifesaver Ribbon and accompanying certificate. We salute Officer Jackels. |
