March 26, 2005 (Flowery Branch) With incredible weather, fantastic volunteers, an Easter egg hunt with 8,000 eggs, and plenty to do for everyone, more than 2,500 people turned out for the Flowery Branch Spring/Easter Festival on Saturday, The event was held at Alberta-Banks Park, and featured Easter egg hunts for four age groups of children, complete with prize eggs, live music, all the food you could you eat, and vendors selling a little bit of everything.

Freddie Falcon, the mascot for the Atlanta Falcons made a much welcomed appearance, and kids lined up to have their photos taken with the popular mascot. The Easter Bunny also worked the crowd to the delight of children throughout the park. Pony rides were offered, face painting, and so much more. The Hall County Sheriff's Department had a display which, using a golf cart, simulated the effects of driving under the influence. The Flowery Branch Police Department had a table set up to give out prizes to the kids and talk to them about the dangers of drugs, and more. Giant inflatable slides, a rock climbing wall, and even a Little Nemo attraction drew hundreds of children. The Special Events Program, set up a table to sell and give out (to volunteers) t-shirts, water bottles, and more. Now that so many people have seen what great events are put on for Flowery Branch, they remind everyone that all volunteers are welcome, and they need your help! City management was all over the park to ensure that everyone was having a good time. "So many citizens came said this was a wonderful event." City management added that, "No event like this is the work of one person. We have dozens of people to thank for their tireless efforts, and numerous sponsors who also make it happen." Given the success of this year's event, one can't help but wonder what Flowery Branch has in store for us next year! |
