City Council Unanimously Approves Planning Commission
Published: 02-10-2005
At its regularly scheduled meeting on February 10th, the City Council unanimously passed Ordinance No. 316 to establish a Planning Commission. With unprecedented growth in Flowery Branch projected well into the future, the Planning Commission is a vital part of the City’s intent to have well-planned growth which follows a comprehensive growth strategy. Together with the City’s Director of Planning and Community Development, the Planning Commission will review all new proposed developments and pass on their recommendation to the City Council. Of course, where Georgia law requires a public hearing, the citizens will be informed of such hearings and are invited to attend the public hearings to discuss the matter. The Council will now formally nominate individuals to serve on the Council, and those individuals will be provided free training by the Georgia Department of Community Affairs on Planning issues before taking their post. |
