City Moves Ahead With Updated Policies

Published:  08-04-2005

Approval. In a move designed to reconcile the City’s older (1992) personnel policy with the law creating the position of City Manager/CAO (as well as Budgeting Officer and Personnel Officer) passed in 1998, the City Council passed the first reading of Ordinance No. 86-A which replaces all references to Mayor and/or City Council to City Manager. The new ordinance will not become law until its second reading at the Council’s meeting on August 11th. Once in effect, the City Manager law, which specifically names the City Manager as the City’s personnel officer, will no longer be in conflict with the older personnel policy. Just one more step to modernize government!
