Council Provides Consensus to Acquire Office Space for Future Department of Planning and Community Development

At its meeting on April 11th, Council members approved by consensus City Management's recommendation to immediately lease office space located at 5509 Main Street (two doors down from City Hall) to serve as the City's Planning and Community Development Department. "The City was able to take advantage of a sudden opportunity to lease this office space for very little money, and the consensus was to, as one Council member put it, 'jump on it.'"

The new Planning offices will be modern and designed to provide maximum customer service.

The new space will be renovated at a very low cost, and the ultimate cost of this 1,800 square feet of premium office space is little more than $6.00 per square foot even when taking into consideration the cost for remodeling. "We were very fortunate" stated city management. The new office space should be ready for occupancy this summer.
